Looking across the water to the mainland, it looked to me like there were birds on a sandbank. No, the sound we could hear wasn't wind, it was seals.. lots of seals.

… a very long beach. This was in September, but it was like that in the summers I spent here too, three miles of beach shared between about ten small groups.
